This Issey Miyake skirt is a rare runway piece from the Autumn-Winter 1986-87 collection, showcasing the designer's innovative approach to textiles and form. Crafted from a finely woven manganese-treated 'Kasuri' (Japanese ikat) cotton-silk blend with metallic threads, it features traditional geometric Japanese designs in rich brown and black tones. The skirt is designed with looped swags of fabric creating a bustle effect to the rear, resulting in a striking asymmetric silhouette. The brushstroke labels and lattice-weave further highlight the unique craftsmanship of this piece. Please note that the jacket and pants shown in some images are not included.
